In network marketing, there are usually several different levels of leadership. Those that are usually looked up to, those presenting the company information and those making the most money are generally the ones who are considered leaders. But does a paycheck make a good leader? Not necessarily. There are certain traits that good leaders have that can be learned. Here are 4 qualities of a good leader that can be learned in network marketing.

Character

It really starts here when it comes to the qualities of a good leader. Good leaders in network marketing are trustworthy, they work ethically and they work with integrity. Leading by example is a great way to show that you have good character. You can’t expect your team to go out and do something you are not willing to go out and do yourself. In network marketing, I have seen too many "leaders" expect their team to build the depth of the team while they just sit and collect a pay check. As well, when it comes to trustworthiness and honesty within your business, make sure you do what you say and say what you mean. It will earn peoples respect much faster than making a bunch of empty promises.

People also look at their leaders in times of uncertainty and unfamiliarity and are looking for someone to step up and comfort and reassure them. Can you do this? Of course!

Confidence

Another one of the qualities of a good leader is confidence. Some may question if this is truly a learned skill. The answer is yes. It can be learned and worked on. This is one of the skill that I always say "fake it until you make it" because even if you don’t have the utmost confidence in yourself, you still can portray it and also show that you have confidence in others. By having confidence in others and their ability to make a good decision, it will help and teach those people to also have confidence in themselves. It is like a domino effect, but in a good way! Take the confidence and passion you have in your business and practice. If you look at the person who stands in front of the room and want to be that person, then start practicing your presentation skills and keep learning new things about your business and it will help you build the confidence you need to hold your own meetings and answer questions that may be asked.

Enthusiasm

A quality of a good leader is being enthusiastic about their work. People tend to respond more openly to a person that has passion about what they are doing. Part of that is because they are a source of inspiration and also looked at as a motivator when it comes to getting the job done. An enthusiastic leader generally will role their sleeves up and will get dirty with the rest of the team and this shows true dedication to not only the job that needs to be accomplished, but to the team as well.

Laser Focus on the Prize

The last quality of a good leader is someone who knows how to keep their eye on the prize no matter what obstacles come up. Learning to have a level head in times of crisis and emotion shows that a good leader has their eye on the prize not necessarily the obstacle. Good leaders view a situation as a whole; they break it down into manageable steps and make progress towards them because they are committed to excellence. A good leader carries high standards for not only themselves but also for their team.

Although these qualities of a good leader are things that can be naturally born into people, they can be learned as well. You will never be able to accomplish them without hard work on developing and strengthening of these skills. With consistent work on these skills you can look like a natural born leader in your network marketing business too.
